David Wehrs

Chief Operating Officer & Head of Investor Relations

David believes deeply in designing systems and teams to enable the growth and performance of venture institutions.

He partners closely with the managing directors to operate a mission-driven, high-performance firm. Additionally, he’s responsible for fundraising and overseeing relationships with limited partners.

Prior to Obvious, David was a partner at Bessemer Venture Partners overseeing a range of operating teams including platform, marketing, and the seed program, as well as co-leading investor relations. Prior to Bessemer, David built a strong foundation of operating and strategy experience including several years in the TMT group at McKinsey & Company, as well as the corporate finance team at Red Hat.

David holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago and a B.S. in Economics from Duke University. He was born in Annapolis, Maryland, and is perhaps one of the only people who really enjoys Waterworld. He also loves to ski, but isn't keen on chairlifts.
