360° of Planetary Health

One of our earliest investment themes at Obvious focused on the electrification of everything: homes, vehicles and industry. Our learnings from Sighten (acquired by NextEra Energy), Enbala (acquired by Generac), and Amply (acquired by BP), helped us find the next generation of electrification with companies like Synop, Forum Mobility, Lightship and FleetZero. Of course, where this power comes from matters too. Expect more to come in OV5.

For over a decade, Obvious has been a frontier investor at the intersection of compute and biology. The insights from investing in TechBio leaders like Recursion and Dyno informed our Generative Science thesis, focusing on the intersection of modern AI and biology. Our recent GenSci investments include Inceptive, Inductive, and Bayesian, and we’re just getting started.

Our world positive investing in Economic Health includes a focus on advanced technologies to replace dull, dirty, dangerous human jobs with robotics. Looking back on our early work with Dexterity Robotics, we get more excited about the sheer size of the problem and opportunity for exceptional founders to build breakthrough solutions here. Our recent work in Physical AI includes Pyka plus some exciting companies still in stealth. Physical AI will continue to be a focus area for us in OV5.
