Chris Cheng

Principal

Chris brings growth equity experience and a passion for collaboration software, fintech, and automation tools to Obvious. 

Before joining Obvious, Chris was an investor at SoftBank Vision Fund where he supported companies like Uber and WeWork while investing in companies like ShipBob. Prior to SoftBank, Chris was at Pango, where he led financial operations and strategy. At Pango, he spearheaded multiple projects including implementing growth KPIs into the sales and marketing organization, zero based budgeting, and developing go to market strategies and sales funnel accountability.  

He has previously spent time in software growth equity at Housatonic Partners and started his career as an investment banker at Citi, advising technology and insurance businesses. Chris received a BA in Economics from the University of Chicago.  

Chris grew up in Simi Valley, California. In his spare time, you can find him looking for new surf breaks along the California coastline.
