Promoting Kahini Shah to Partner

Obvious |

Ever since she first embarked on her career with an engineering degree in hand, Kahini Shah has been driven by working on things that matter at the cutting edge of technology.

Since joining Obvious in 2022, Kahini has led our world positive AI investments, with a focus on healthcare, governance, and robotics. Kahini has made an incredible impact on our team during her time here, and we are announcing her well-deserved promotion to partner.

Among the investments Kahini has led are the healthcare AI company GenHealth, a stealth AI agentic healthcare company, and stealth open-source AI infrastructure company. She currently sits on the boards of GenHealth and Darwin AI. And she also reviews AI companies that seek grant funding from the National Science Foundation.

Kahini decided to focus on AI in 2015, long before it became the transformative technology of our time.

“AI is the field that I am most consistently wowed by. It drives hardware and software innovation,” she says. “Each new architecture boosts and enables us to do more.”

Kahini’s investment style is to go deep into a landscape and a market. Since joining our team, she has been a prolific writer, sharing the results of her intensive research in pieces about healthcare, ethics, and robotics

Prior to Obvious, Kahini was an investor at Gradient Ventures, Google’s early-stage AI fund. Previously, she worked for Booz Allen Hamilton and Lockheed Martin.

Kahini was drawn to Obvious by our people, culture, and mission.

“I didn’t know the term “world positive” then, but I said I wanted to invest in companies with imagination and big impact. We strive to find this in each investment in our funds.”

At Obvious, we believe the next wave of AI, generative AI or what we call generative science will lead to new scientific breakthroughs in decarbonization, biotech, materials science, and robotics. Kahini looks forward to investing in more GenSci companies.

Please join us in congratulating Kahini. We are thankful she’s on our team and look forward to years of world positive investing ahead.
